New Technology Allowing personalization of Birthday Cards

Sending birthday cards has been getting less and less significant lately because technology and social media like Facebook and Twitter. On that note, I think we still appreciate it totally if someone were to give us a birthday card on our birthday.  This is one of the motives what assists me adapts a lot of my viewpoints in the last few months.

I will tell several of the most significant things you have to pay attention when you are planning to give birthday card to someone important to you. These tips have helped me out extremely when it comes to building important relationships. Before I begin, you have to know that the outcomes are never alike when you send e-cards. I have stopped giving e-cards since I was told that all of my e-cards were just in my contacts’ recycle bin or they have saw it but cannot remember when and what it is all about. Now, let’s see how technology can help us personalize a birthday card.

First, in sending a birthday card, do your best to make it personalized. Put the first name of the person that you are sending rather than just starting with a greeting such as ‘Hi’. Don’t send an e-card, because it is not remarkable to a lot of people. Giving a personalized card as well mean that you have to take in several parts of the conversation you had with that someone and wish them all the best. Take in mind that the most significant thing is to thank them for being part of your life. You can write on your card by typing on your computer and printing them.

Second, always put in a photo together with the card. At the very least, I constantly take in my personal photo as part of the signature at any time I send a birthday card to someone. This act as two purposes: first, people will recall me longer than someone else. Next, it is extremely personalized and people probably won’t throw the card to the trash can. You can do it by scanning your photo on the computer and put it to an appropriate position, make sure that it wouldn’t look redundant at all.

Lastly, do not inform them that you are giving them a birthday card! This works wonder for the reason that it will provide people an extremely pleasing surprise when they are given a birthday card from you. Some people will call or text you only to thank you for the card you have given. I constantly use this chance to follow up with them particularly if they are one of the most important people for me.

To sum up, technology always can help you in making them making people happy, as well as sending them a card on their birthday, sending card to someone is helping to build relationships and make people feel is much more significant.

The best DVD gifts for Mother’s Day 2012

Even though I’ve known Mother’s Day was fast approaching for weeks now, I still haven’t found the time to get my mum a gift. Actually, I’ve had plenty of time; it’s just that I’ve been putting it off because she’s so hard to buy for. Christmas and birthdays are bad enough, so Mother’s Day is always a bit of a fiasco. I’ve got her a card and everything; it’s just the present I’m stumped for.

Or at least I was, until she phoned me last Saturday night to complain about the fact her DVD player’s broken. I had an epiphany midway through a sentence and couldn’t get off the phone fast enough. I went straight online and bought her a new DVD player and then realised she’d probably want some new DVD releases to watch on it. So, after much searching online, I’ve got her some of the absolute best films for her Mother’s Day present. And what are they, I hear you ask? Well, here you go:

Singin’ in the Rain
This is my mum’s all-time favourite movie and I have to admit, I like it quite a lot too. It’s often thought of as the best Hollywood musical there is, and with Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds performing show-stopping numbers it’s easy to see why. Despite the fact that it’s now 60 years old, there’s still something special about this film.

The Help
My mum was raving about this film when she came back from the cinema. It hasn’t actually been released yet so I’ve got it on pre-order. It’s set in the early 60s Civil Rights era in America and tells the story of Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan, a young, educated white woman, and her relationship with two black maids, Aibileen Clark and Minny Jackson. Skeeter wants to become a journalist and, with Aibileen and Minny’s help, decides to write a controversial book that tells the story of life from a black maid’s point of view.

One Day
This film’s been adapted from one of my mum’s favourite books, so it was a given that I should get her it for Mother’s Day. It’s set over 20 years and, on the same day each year, it follows Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew as they go about their lives. The day has special significance – it’s the day they first met on graduation night. The film is packed with ‘will they, won’t they’s’ and is definitely one to have the tissues close at hand for.

The King’s Speech
My mum loves Colin Firth and this is probably one of his best films, so it went straight on the Mother’s Day DVDs list. If you haven’t already heard of it, it’s about King George VI and the help he gets from Australian speech therapist Lionel Logue for his stammer. This film also requires tissues, but they’re happy tears, not sad ones.

Casablanca
To be honest, I’ve never seen Casablanca, but it’s one that my mum raves about. The essential storyline is that Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) is an expat living in Casablanca that runs a gambling den/night club. His ex (whom he’s still in desperate love with) Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) shows up at the club one night with her husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid), who’s a leader of the Czech resistance. He’s then got to decide whether he should whisk Ilsa, who also loves him still, away, or help Victor in his fight against the Nazis.

Purple Bodysuits in the Mediterranean sun

The clouds burst open and spewed out the huge spaceships down to Earth in a turbulent wave of explosive motion.

We grouped together in huddled masses, on the shady side of the hill, as if this would help us cope with these unexpected visitors. We grasped each other tightly as we looked on passively at the disembarkment. As they shuffled mechanically down the ramps, their purple bodysuits glinting in the May sunshine, they spread out across the sandy shoreline right up to the edge of our quiet fishing village.

Sophia burst out crying suddenly then struggled to hold back her fear. I stared down through the mass of tense, weakly bodies. None of us could put a voice to name what we should do. We had no hopes and no courage, for what good would our small collection of knives and axes do against these cotillions of mechanised monsters. I wondered if it was happening like this throughout the rest of Europe.

Some of  their leaders began moving towards us up the sand dunes, coming straight at us. We cast glances at each other but only briefly, as we could see our own fear reflected in our neighbour’s face. Many of us began twitching with indecision because we wanted to flee in the opposite direction but were still unsure if we had yet been seen. Then some began to run away, aiming for the nearby tree covered mountain. Yet it must have been at least a mile before they would reach cover again. Sophia and I held each other’s arms to keep us back, wanting to make sure the others made it before we tried ourselves.

We never had the opportunity to decide anything since, as we saw the first wave of runners reach the treeline, a tremendous shadow shot by over our heads. We turned to see who had fired something only to see that the purple shapes we were so afraid of had come silently upon us. We looked up into those deep but gentle eyes and saw the beaming smiles of beautiful human like creatures; more beautiful than anyone we had ever seen before.

Survey Shows That Bad Online Reviews Can Actually Boost A Business

One would imagine that bad reviews about your products or services would be detrimental to the business’s reputation however, according to a new survey this isn’t the case. Findings by Reevoo, a solutions provider, show that negative online content writing reviews are actually good. The research found that bad reviews can boost a business and that 68% of consumers trust reviews more when there is a balance of upbeat and disapproving reviews.

Further results revealed that 30% of those surveyed suspect censorship or faked reviews when there is the absence of bad appraisals and that shoppers who strive to read negative reviews convert 67% more than the average consumer. The study found that the vast majority of Brits go out of their way to seek out damaging pieces of content as part of their pre-buying research strategy.

The founder and CEO of Reevoo admitted that negative user-generated content is one of the most effective conversion tools. As an expert SEO Company Manchester based, Custard Media has a vast array of experience in content writing and digital marketing to understand the latest conversion techniques.

The survey findings follow news that the Advertising Standards Authority has criticised the travel website TripAdvisor, claiming that many of the reviews on the site are not by genuine travellers. The qualified writers at Custard Media strive to ensure that all content is engaging and unique, as well as balanced. Consumers prefer honesty to commercial drab and retaining a customer’s trust is essential for any business; so a top tip is not to try gaining more consumers by writing irrelevant content that has no relation to your brand. Target your audiences with on topic writing.

Wal-Mart to Take Controlling Share in Chinese e-commerce Firm

American supermarket giants, Wal-Mart are set to take a controlling stake in Chinese e-commerce firm Yihaodian.

This has come as the world’s largest retailer looks for new revenue sources. This is in a bid to fend off increasing competition in what is the world’s largest and fastest growing major economy. The move comes; unsurprisingly two-weeks after Wal-Mart announced their new head of the company’s China operations.

This finally caps a number of different leadership changes at the company. They have recently been tainted by food scandals which include a mislabelling of pork ‘issue’ last year which led to a dozen of their China stores being temporarily shut down.

The latest purchase from Wal-Mart will take their stake in the company, subject to Government regulatory approval, to 51% and despite the lack of financial details released by Wal-Mart it still isn’t clear what Wal-Mart’s previous stake was and how much this has cost them.

With this you can expect that there will be an increase in e-commerce from other global companies in an attempt to increase their revenue. Not a lot of companies have an e-commerce site and will probably be losing out on a fairly large amount of sales and business.

If you need an e-commerce site then you should look at contacting an ecommerce web design agency who will be able to build something for you that you will without a doubt benefit from. If you’re based in the North West then you should get in touch with NuBlue.

NuBlue are based in Lancaster right by the M6 which means that they are perfectly placed for working with clients from up and down the country. Offering a range of different services, from Drupal hosting to social media marketing they will fulfil all of your online and digital needs.

Technology You Can Take Camping

The days when a camping trip meant roughing it in a moth-eaten tent, and scrambling around in the dark by the light of a battery powered torch are long gone. Today’s self catering holidays have developed so that people of all ages can enjoy the outdoor life, but with all the comforts of home. The latest technology means that whether you are spending a weekend under the stars, or have booked a cosy cabin for a weekend away,  those little extras that make life fun will never be too far away.

Although I am certainly not someone that could be described as a gadget geek, I have discovered that there are some really great devices out there which can add an extra dimension to your holiday. Here are my top picks for technology you can take camping.

E-Book Reader

As a lover of good old fashioned ink and paper books, I was somewhat dismissive of e-book readers – until I borrowed my daughter’s Kindle during our camping holiday. I don’t have much free time to read at home, and have always stocked up on best-sellers to read while on my holidays, but on this occasion, didn’t have space to pack a stack of books into our luggage. On a rainy afternoon, I picked up the Kindle and started to read one of the classic novels that my daughter had uploaded for her university course. I was quickly hooked, and was even more impressed when I discovered that my daughter had also thought to pack her e-book reader with some travel guides for the area we were staying in, as well as some handy language guides. The size of most brands of e-book readers mean that they are totally portable, and ideal if you have to fit within airline luggage restrictions. Since returning home, I’ve treated myself to my own e-book reader, and have had fun uploading a library of useful books and magazines. Not only will I have plenty to keep me entertained on our next camping trip, but I’ll also have a wealth of local knowledge, literally at my finger tips.

Portable Speakers

While camping is a fantastic way to get closer to nature, we sometimes find that we feel like livening up the atmosphere a bit with some of our favourite music, it makes a real difference from our usual cruises from Southampton holiday break. Back when my husband and I was first married, we used to take a big stereo on camping trips with us – and of course the huge batteries which were needed to power it up. Obviously, with the invention of the mp3 player, personal music devices have gotten considerably smaller, but what about when you want to share that music with other people? This is where portable speakers come in handy!  We bought a brand of high quality portable speakers which can run on a solar power pack and so far we’ve been really impressed with the quality of the sound and lasting power of our purchase. For anyone who likes to have a sing along while cooking the dinner, or a dance to their favourite tune before going out in the evening, portable speakers are ideal.

A specialist Business IT Support company to outsource network management

IT budgets have now grown to the point that they are a really significant overhead for many businesses. For many companies computers and Business IT Support has become their 4th highest overhead behind people, marketing, and premises.

What appears to have happened that the scope of IT has increased faster than the costs of individual elements have fallen. PC’s might be significantly faster and cheaper, but other aspects of IT now touch every aspect of our business.

For example virtually all communications are now conducted with the use of computers – email, teleconferencing, telephones that are now computers running on our network, mobile phones and the internet.

Computers are used in virtually every business process – taking orders, processing orders, design, production, despatch, invoicing, credit control, maintenance management, etc.

Few businesses can operate if their computers are offline. In fact today doing business with other companies is generally only possible if you are part of the same computerised digital world as them.

The mix of IT spending has changed as well. Hardware costs have fallen as a proportion of total IT expenditure. But the Business IT Support – the IT service – has grown faster than the computers have fallen in price.

In addition computing has also grown significantly in sophistication and complexity. Business IT Support is now so complex that non-experts now find it difficult to install, maintain or fix computers. That means a specialist Business IT Support company to outsource network management and help desk to or your own internal IT Support department.

Smartphones: The Facts and Figures

We live in a generation where everyone is trying to cut expenditure, tightening the financial belt in all aspects of life – so, when it comes to insurance many people are hesitant to fork over the cash. This might be for a few reasons. Maybe it’s down to the fact that smartphones can cost up to £500, and people do not then want to part further money to insure the damn thing! Or maybe it’s because certain people think they are not clumsy and will never drop/break/have their phone stolen. Well. Here are the facts for you taken from different studies of iPhones and smartphones in recent years – they might surprise you somewhat.

FACTS

Around 20% of iPhone 4 users report accidently damaging their phone – This is a rising number. Just think of how many of your friends have a crack in their iPhone – and how many of your friends phones have still go the crack on their phone due to lack of insurance.

Over 100,000 smartphones are stolen every year.

60% of car crimes are attributable to mobile phone theft – however no other policy will insure your phone (Regular household, office or motor policies etc.). Specialist mobile phone cover will only insure your phone.

Not many people actually have insurance – Recent surveys have revealed that actually over half of people who have smartphones don’t actually own smartphone insurance. As a result of that, a third of smartphone users have to replace their phone before their contract runs out or gets upgraded.  On top of that, 37% of people who have a 24 month contract had to replace their handset before the contract ended.

iPhones and smartphones are too expensive to replace without insurance – 50% of people in a certain study (who had lost their iPhone or smartphone) refused to buy a new handset due to the escalation in price and the tight economy.

Phones used to be cheaper than they are now, and still people have the mind-set of that with attitudes towards iPhone and smartphone insurance. As careful as you can be, there is always a danger something will happen to your phone whether it is dropped, stolen or malfunctions. In this economy buying a replacement would be insane, so the smarter thing would be to protect your investment of your phone with insurance – you’d do it for you laptop or iPad wouldn’t you?

In conclusion, be smart and be safe with your handset. Invest in some iPhone insurance or smartphone insurance to protect you, your phone and your pocket.
